DMARC Announces Closure on Thursday and Friday Due to Winter Storm
The Des Moines Area Religious Council (DMARC) is closing its office, warehouse, and DMARC-ket Southside Food Pantry on Thursday and Friday of this week due to expected severe winter weather. Many of the food pantries in the DMARC Food Pantry Network have already announced closures for Thursday and Friday, with more announcements expected in the coming hours.
“If you need to visit a food pantry this week, please do so immediately today,” said DMARC CEO Matt Unger. “The DMARC-ket Southside Food Pantry and many of the food pantries in our network have announced closures for Thursday and Friday due to the severe winter weather heading our way.”
DMARC has also extended the hours of its delivery hotline until 4:00pm today to offer same-day delivery to those who are unable to visit a food pantry. Residents can call 1-833-362-7220 before 4:00pm to request a delivery for this evening.
“We are asking all callers requesting deliveries to please be patient as we expect a high volume of calls,” said DMARC Operations Manager Joe Dolack. “If you don’t get through, please try calling again a few minutes later.”
Residents are encouraged to call their local food pantry directly with questions about closures to have the most up-to-date information. Pantry locations and contact information can be found at dmarcunited.org/food/pantry-locations/.
