Unity With Our Neighbors
DMARC started as a collaboration of Christian churches in the 1950’s and then became an interfaith organization in the 1970’s. It continues to be an important part of our mission to build relationships and understanding across religious diversity–so that we may strengthen our community and respond to challenges together!

Let’s start a conversation.

Youth Interfaith Leadership
The Des Moines Area Religious Council and The Comparison Project at Drake University are proud to partner every summer on the Iowa Interfaith Youth Leadership Camp.
This partnership with the Comparison Project at Drake University invites High school students and recent graduates to learn from each other while representing a diverse array of religious and cultural traditions and communities. Students will learn about each other’s beliefs and practices through a week of site visits and by creating a personal video narrative.
Watch videos from past participants online to hear their perspectives on their own personal faith journey.
Meet My Religious Neighbor Series
Visit with members of a local congregation or tradition you want to get to know better in a relaxed and friendly environment. These events are often highlighted by a holiday celebration or tour, food, and Q and A.

Staff Spotlight: Patrick Minor
Patrick brings a decade of DMARC experience—from warehouse operations to managing the Mobile Food Pantry program—along with a unique interfaith background. An ordained minister in the Community of Christ Church who attended Jewish school as a child, Patrick is passionate about celebrating religious diversity and supporting faith communities in their mission to serve neighbors in need. He also has a great love and appreciation for music (performing several times at DMARC’s annual ‘Songs of Gratitude’ Concert in the fall).

Help Support Our Interfaith Work
During this time of merging cultures and ethnic diversity, we aim to foster inter-religious dialogue. Let’s educate each other and engage with our neighbors from a variety of faith traditions! Provide a gift today to support tomorrow’s leaders.
