It’s really cool to be a part of an organization where I can see the impact of the work we do in the community I live in.

Join the fight against food insecurity

Do you believe in the power of community to make a difference?
The Des Moines Area Religious Council (DMARC) is a vibrant tapestry of diverse faith traditions united in a common purpose: building a more just and compassionate community. Founded as a council of churches over 70 years ago, our impact has grown, but the mission remains the same: working together to meet the basic human needs of the Des Moines community.
What We Do:

DMARC operates the state’s largest Food Pantry Network, assisting over 75,000 unique individuals a year. The warehouse provides pantry staples to 14 food pantry sites at no cost in Des Moines, Ankeny, Clive, Johnston, Urbandale, and West Des Moines. DMARC also operates a food pantry, food delivery service, and mobile food pantry from its headquarters at 100 Army Post Rd.
In keeping with the decades-long tradition of interfaith engagement, DMARC works to connect the broader community in interfaith dialogues that invite you to meet your ‘religious neighbors’. The organization also works to build coalitions and advocate for policies that will reduce food insecurity in the state of Iowa.
Why Join DMARC?
- Make a difference: Your voice and actions, amplified by our network, can create real change. Having a mission-driven career gives your work meaning.
- A community of support: Our passion for making a difference, isn’t possible without taking care of the people who make it happen.
- Investing in you: We are committed to creating a workplace where your voice matters. DMARC involves every employee from the warehouse to the front office in planning for the future and encourages regular professional development.
