Luke Elzinga

Policy & Advocacy Manager

Luke Elzinga joined DMARC as Communications Manager in April of 2014, and has been instrumental in building DMARC’s advocacy program. Since January 2023, Luke has served as DMARC’s Policy & Advocacy Manager, directing DMARC’s advocacy efforts around the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and other nutrition and anti-poverty programs at the local, state, and national level.

Luke earned his BA from Iowa State University (2012) and his Master of Public Policy (MPP) from the University of Northern Iowa (2023). He currently serves on the board of the Iowa Hunger Coalition and is a co-chair of the Iowa Food System Coalition’s Local Food Policy Network priority team. Luke is an AmeriCorps VISTA alum, HealthConnect Fellow with the Mid-Iowa Health Foundation, 2017 fellow of the New Leaders Council Des Moines Chapter, and previously served on the boards of the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network (YNPN) Des Moines and dsmHack.

In his free time, Luke enjoys cooking, reading, games, and spending time with his wife, daughter, two cats, and dog.
