Looking forward to frights and fun this Halloween season? As you plan ahead for spooky season, make a plan to also give back during your halloween activities when you can. There are lots of ways to create a halloween-themed fundraiser to help support DMARC.

P.S. Don’t forget to join us for one of our favorite events of the year, Halloween on the Hill, on Oct. 30 in Historic Sherman Hill.

Home with giant skeleton sculptures that are set up to look like people in lawn chairs resembling a movie theater watching the two largest 'wolverine' and 'deadpool' skeletons.

Create a neighborhood Halloween-themed fundraiser

Drive-through fundraisers are an easy way to work together with your neighbors and collect nonperishable food/monetary donations. Encourage each house on the block to decorate their home with your best halloween display, hold performances in the yard and, dress up.

Halloween on the Hill

  • Oct. 30 – 6:30 to 8:30 pm
  • Historic Sherman Hill Neighborhood

Des Moines’s premier Halloween event returns! For one night, residents of the historic Sherman Hill neighborhood will be going all out to decorate their homes with spooky scenes while collecting donations for DMARC.

Hold a ‘trunk or treat’ event

Trunk or treat style fundraisers are a fun way for your congregation or group to ensure a safe and fun trick or treat experience. It is super easy to add a food drive in tangent with your trunk or treat and ask participants to bring nonperishable food items to donate. Remember our three biggest needs: peanut butter, whole grain cereal, and fruit (canned in its own juice). You can even add an online fundraiser for those who can’t make it to the event on our JustGiving platform.

‘trick or treat’ for DMARC

Instead of just doing candy while trick or treating this year, work with your neighbors to get the word out that you will be collecting nonperishable food items. Get your jokes ready and involve the whole family.
