One of our neighbors was helped by the Food Pantry Network since its formation in 1976.

Not quite a food bank, not just a food pantry. The DMARC Food Pantry Network exists to help meet the gap between both. What started as a faith-based effort to help our neighbors during the fuel crisis in the 1970’s has grown to become the state’s largest food pantry network – a unique model to address food insecurity locally.
The DMARC Food Pantry Network has grown your impact by providing food pantry staples in bulk to our 14 local food pantry partners at no cost. This ensures that anytime someone walks through the doors at a local food pantry, they will find the same pantry staples you would expect to find in your cupboard or fridge at home.
In the past 12 months, the DMARC Food Pantry Network has assisted over 77,000 unique individuals in Greater Des Moines, an all-time record as the cost of living continues to hurt many in our community.

Founded in 1952, the Des Moines Area Religious Council (DMARC) is a community-based interfaith organization whose mission is to work together to meet basic human needs in the greater Des Moines community. The DMARC Food Pantry Network started as a means to grow the combined efforts of faith leaders in greater Des Moines, as many struggled with the financial impact of the fuel crisis in the 1970s. Every step along the way, from the flood of ’93 to the great recession, the organization has helped many of our neighbors weather the storm.
Since our founding in 1976, the DMARC Food Pantry Network has provided over 5.5 million food pantry services to our neighbors in need.
Today, DMARC works to convene all faith communities, uniting both religious and non-religious groups alike to meet these needs.
